All shows are required to have a strong female lead nowadays. Kim’s character has been lauded by libs. I think the breakup is essential & can be quite powerful — the show is better with Jimmy being Saul-like & his relationship with Kim on the rocks or broken — but they aren’t going to write her out of the show. And then it becomes another character they have to write separate storylines for. In a show that already struggles with balancing different storylines & main characters.

At an intellectual level, especially after learning about Jimmy’s cell phone business, and arrest of his security chief, Kim must reject Jimmy for the way he thinks: not even like a lawyer.
Going back to an earlier episode flashback scene where law student Kim is clerking at the same firm that Jimmy’s brother just won a huge case based on obscure case law, Jimmy Lacks the wits for appreciating the fine points of the law which is precisely what makes Kim who she is=a blue chip legal talent |

But they won’t diminish her role. Too much media praise as a strong womyn lead. If she breaks up with Jimmy, it takes away screen time. Do they put her with Hamlin?
It would be stunning if they killed her & it was the straw that completely breaks Jimmy in ep 10, & they bring in other actresses to play Saul’s rebound flings in a timeline jump next season, but it’ll never happen. Would get too much shitlib media criticism. |

Not sure where they're going with the Hamlin character. I like the guy, hoap he gets his mojo back.
Show continues to hit the nail on the head with law firm dynamics (see, e.g., Jimmy's comment about the associate working through lunch).

It's weird that I root for him, but also root for Jimmy. Even though they are both assholes in their own selfish ways. That's good writing and acting. I feel more drawn to Jimmy, though. I was once told, by a new boss, "I've learned some things about you. And one is you aren't afraid to take creative ways to find a shortcut." She was right. But she liked me. At least I am pretty sure. And I like Jimmy.

Recall that they are handling Jimmy's big class action against the nursing home. As it stands, Jimmy should be getting a big fat check in the semi-near future, but it would seem that isn't the case based on what we've seen of Jimmy in Breaking Bad. My guess is that the class action gets fucked up and Jimmy has to go full blown Saul once he regains his license. |
