Fundamentally I’m swinging for a home run here though. They owe 11 billion with $1.3 billion of converts maturing in March. They’ve also never not burned a billion dollars of cash in a quarter and only had less than $1bn of unrestricted cash in the bank as of last June.
This feels like a once in a lifetime opportunity and I want major returns here. There is literally no rational argument to support its valuation and innumerable potential catalysts for a sudden drop to like $20 a share |

My biggest fear is the amount of STUPID money out there. The worse case scenario is that Elon reveals the massive fraud behind everything -- 420,000 reservations are fake, his Curaçao fund, etc. and the response is... NOTHING.
The Gene Munsters of the world rationalize away everything, it costs money to "save the world" after all. They throw $5B at Elon. Tesla will still go bankrupt, but all shorts/puts out through at least 2020 are wiped out.
The second worst outcome is stupid money throwing about $2B at Elon so that Tesla survives long enough for shorts/puts to be margin called or wiped out.
I don't believe that will happen. Based on Elon's behavior, his best maneuver was "funding secured". This suggests he's out of tricks. I have bet accordingly. |
