ive done a lot of house stuff and id rate it as a 7/10 difficulty, especially if existing one isnt properly vented outside of the house

highly variable. i did this a while ago because there was mildew on the ceiling around the fan. i thought it was a roof leak, but it was actually some stupid bullshit where the people who installed the fan didn't seal the duct properly and it was funneling water to a rafter and dripping into the ceiling.
it was kind of a mess to clean up and repair because the new fan was a different size and i had to cut the ceiling up a bit and also relocate the power cable duct so i could clean up the shit that got wet. about 95% of the work was done in the attic with only a few finishing touches done from the floor of the bathroom itself. i don't remember it being very technically challenging, though. it was mostly just inconvenient. my new fan literally had an illustrated sheet on how to hook it up to power and so on.
