I've never been able to figure out how these things are worth it
You have to invest a ton of money and only break even in 10 years or so

So I looked into it a bit and the local power monopoly in my area has worked with local goverment to ensure that it isn't cost effective for anyone to install a solar system any more:

It's a god damn shame for those of us in Phoenix. See my link above.
Here is a quote from the same article:
"Officials found that the average customer in that group paid $181 a month before solar, compared with $122 a month with solar on the demand rate."
So tell me who is going to spend $10k or $15k up front to save $59 per month? Or am I just reading this wrong?
