I read Brideshead Revisited when I was too young to really get something out of it - should really reread it. Are the rest of Waugh's books worthwhile?

Brideshead is his most famous book of course, but it was middle-of-the-pack for me. Generally I preferred his earlier, more comedic works, and for the Catholic stuff I preferred Sword of Honor to Brideshead. I strongly recommend pretty much anything by him, though. I even read his biography of Edmund Campion which was great.

2. Master and Commander is definitely inferior to the two novels immediately after it, Post-Captain and HMS Surprise, so don't give up if you hate the first one (or consider reading a detailed summary and then skipping ahead).

3. I've read Whatever and Submission. I liked them both (particularly Submission) but they're VERY toxic, particularly for a person in my stage of life, so I stopped and will only revisit him when I'm in a better place.
