For months now, the Dems have been saying that Mueller should not release the report before the midterms. Why? If Mueller releases a report before the midterms and it shows Trump dindu nuffin, then it makes every Dem in Congress look like a total jokes... right before the midterms. If Mueller had something, they'd be demanding he release the report before the midterms to damage Republicans going into their elections with questions from the media like, "Do you disavow the Orange Bad Man?!"
Secondly, Mueller's report won't have anything concrete or damning. It will be loaded with innuendo and insinuations that will be used to claim, "there was a lot of smoke, but we just couldn't find any fire!"
If Dems win the House, they will use this report to launch further investigations (note, not DOJ/FBI investigations, but House ones) where they will say, "well we've got a lot of evidence of smoke, so we need to see if we can find any fire".
The main objective of Mueller was to find some sort of crime they could pin on Trump to have him removed. Short of that, it served as tax payer funded opposition research that they will use against Trump in the 2020 election.
At the end of all this, Trump needs to purge the FBI and DOJ in his second term. They're a de facto 4th branch of government that is accountable to no one. |
