they are not strictly the same. difference in orientation etc

as for as why - swastika was an aryan (indo-european) symbol so was used widely across central asia/india

nazis claimed descent from aryans/indo-europeans so they were trying to remind people of that legacy

indo-europeans is just a sanitized lib name for aryans and nobody disputes that germans/scandis have significant aryan heritage
