neat, ty. peirce is interesting, i drew a lot of comparisons between him and Popper for some reason. similar language at times, too. re: helmholtz, i had no idea you were interested in physics, v cool (hard sciences are a weaker spot for me)

i recommended james burnham on here the other day:

didn't know that, but i definitely see it now

burnham was a former trot turned anti-progressive social conservative (with a capitalism-skeptic bent). odd case, but a bit of a canary in the coal mine there

i'd start with the one i linked, assuming you can find it somewhere else for a reasonable price
