Teachers put up silly and funny poasters and colorful things on the walls but at the end of the day what you had was decrepit 70s utilitarianism |

Nothing too awful. Just disruption in every fucking class. Had a black female gym teacher. I remember sitting in bleachers as she tried to talk to us about something and the black kids in back of me -- loud enough for her to hear-- were talking about her stanky pussy and how there were flies around her pussy 'cause she was so dirty. I was this geeeky, shy white kid from the 'burbs and never heard anyone talk like that. I remember feeling bad for the teacher. There was a black kid in my class who I liked. He was chubby and soft-spoken but he was also nice and funny. He brought an egg in to school -- it was like a quail egg or something. But he thought it was neat because it was a different color from normal eggs and smaller. In short, he was inquisitive and interested in learning. Another black kid found out he had the egg in his pocket, went over to him, and smashed the egg. And they laughed and laughed at this poor kid, with egg yolk in his pants. Like I said, no day was without some sort of drama from kids yelling at teachers, getting in fights, etc. If you were smart then you were a target. Probably remember some more stories if I think hard enough -- it was a long time ago (I am old)

Before that it was swear to god movie projectors and slide projectors. In elementary school, when it wasn't a movie projector it was a slide projector, and there would be an accompanying vinyl record that you would play and it would beep and the beep would mean to flip to the next slide. We'd all get tensed up waiting to hear the BEEP and wouldn't pay the fuck attention to whatever the slide was--we were just little BEEPpigs, waiting to hear that BEEP and getting excited when it would happen.
In HS we had overheads--remember those--they would cast light on the screen and you could write on a transparent sheet of plastic w a black felt tip erasable pen. |
