this docu is pure garbage appealing to the lowest common denominator. it's obviously targeted at secular jews -- who else would watch a documentary about kikes than kikes? the goyim dont give a flying fuck.

the purpose of this docu is to try to inflame secular jews into hating religious jews. it'd have been an interesting docu to go deep into the hasidic world and explore the benefits and drawbacks of their lifestyle. but that's not what they do. the filmmakers just want to brainwash secular jews into believing that hasidic jews are all child molesters and wife beaters, or condone them.

the docu's main character is a woman with 7 kids who is getting divorced from an abusive husband. she's rejected being hasidic judaism and is becoming secular, and the community is trying to keep the kids from her because they don't want the kids to become secular. the docu makes it seem like the the community is forcing this woman to be married to an abusive husband, when she could easily just divorce and remain in the community and raise her kids. this crazy bitch can't just fuck up 7 kids who have been hasidic their whole childhood, and make them religious.

another character is a 20s dude who was married with one or two kids, and just decided to say fuck it and become secular and move to LA to become an actor. he's an asshole for leaving his wife and kids, yet the docu portrays him as some sort of hero. and he's still friends with guys in the community, defeating the docu's premise that anyone who leaves is somehow ostracized.

the third character is a young man who became secular for unexplained reasons, including that he was molested at summer camp and that he got into drugs. his parents paid for his rehab and are still supporting him, also defeating the docu's schtick about the insularity.

it would have been interesting to get inside these three people's heads and figure out what made them reject hasidic judaism. it would also have been interesting for the docu to profile some people who had bad experiences in the hasidic community and either decided to stick it out, or ran away and then came back.

but this is pure low iq schtick to brainwash people into walking away with the simple message that hasidic jews are bad, m'kay.

n.b. the most retarded thing in the docu is that it repeatedly says that hasidic jews are insular and protective because they lost so many people in the holocaust and want to rebuild. fake news. hasidic jews do what they do because they believe in the torah, and were acting the same long before the holocaust.

it'd be interesting to actually analyze footsteps as part of the documentary. what happens to the people they try to help? are they satisfied? do they go back? if they profiled additional people who struggled with their decision to leave the community, it'd have been far more interesting and educational.
