The ranges they selected are completely arbitrary and make no sense. The participants' carb intake had a mean of 48.9% with standard dev of 9.4.

But the study chose 50-50% as the "moderate" (shouldn't it be more like 45-55%?), >70% as "high" and <40% as low.

If you're using 70% as high, shouldn't the low be 30%???

edit: most diet studies are bogus anyway... they can claim there's no bias and that they're not influenced by the funders, but anyone who's not naive knows how it works.

It's not just about "moderation", which although is a good general rule of thumb, is extremely vague and not very useful.

As far as keto, I am not saying it doesn't work. Anorexia also "works" for weight loss, a lot of things "work" that are varying degrees of good and bad. But it is an extreme, kind of unnatural way to eat and its other side effects we still don't know.

However, basic science of diet, nutrition and weight loss and healthy eating has been known for decades and it is extremely common knowledge. Anything else other than these ('diets', supplements, weight loss routines, weight loss products) is all GC flame designed more than anything to make money. You don't need to force your body into burning ketones for energy and weight loss.

However, it is also true that such diet, even if restrictive and burning more than what one eats, will take 4x the time to lose the weight than keto.

Last time in my life where I had to lose weight, I remember going MONTHS on low calorie diet, exercising every single day, and after 6 months, I hadn't lose almost anything. Then when a whole year went by, I was suddenly skinny as hell. But it took so much fucking work and time.

I'm trying keto for the first time based on that shitty experience and I'm seeing results. So fwiw, even if less healthy, it is only a temporary solution. Let's get real, it's easy to get fat when you party and drink for a certain period of time (which can be unavoidable with certain social commitments). I don't see anything wrong with doing keto for a month and then switching to a healthy 40% carb diet. It does the job faster and that's what most people are after. Long term keto is not recommended.

Fats have a ton of bodyfat for their body to feed off of so they can just chill and eat hamburgers with no buns and lose weight, but skinnybros seemingly have to supplement with Lard or something. It's weird bc keto enthusiasts get EXTREMELY upset whenever the diet is questioned or criticized (see above) and it's truly funny. they also claim that it's the only diet 'that works' and refuse to answer about any of the negatives. happens every time. manlets get MAF when you question keto.

I'm not the OP ITT or anyone who replied angrily, I replied to your initial post and my reply was in no way "upset" or "triggered" or even claiming that it's the only diet that works.

My reply simply pointed out that the conclusion of the article is not that keto is bad or should be avoided. This is the conclusion and my reply to you:

I enjoyed the conclusion. Pretty much kills the initial argument:
