I tried stuff in high school and college-marijuana, ecstasy, and alcohol (well, I tried a lot of alcohol) but it was just for fun and to be sociable.

However, when I was 24, I graduated from college and moved to a new city far away from any friends. I was very lonely and horny and wanted to meet men and get fucked. One night I went to a club alone and met three guys. I was already pretty drunk when they gave me some Adderall tablets. I started feeling super horny (I hadn’t had sex for weeks.) We went back to my apartment where I fucked all three guys for hours. I couldn’t get enough.

I felt fantastic after that experience and wanted it again. I started using amphetamines more and more and then I added cocaine. Soon I was spending almost every night and weekend high and at sex parties where I had sex with many, many men and women. I started taking amphetamines every morning because they made me feel powerful and confident and sexy. By the end of the day, though, I’d feel jittery and fragile, like I was made of delicate crystal that would shatter at the slightest touch. I’d use sex, Valium and alcohol to bring myself down to where I could sleep.

I wasn’t some strung out junkie. I had a good job, nice apartment, new car and I spent a lot of money on clothes and shoes. I never had to buy drugs because their were always plenty of guys ready to trade drugs for sex. I told myself that I was living life to the fullest, I was a party girl who knew how to have a good time.

The root cause of my drug use was being unable to face my global, feel-floating anxiety. I had been anxious and shy ever since childhood. Being unable to face my anxieties made me depressed. Also, I had trouble dealing with my strong sexual desires. I wanted sex but my Catholic upbringing made me inwardly condemn myself for being a filthy slut. Amphetamines and cocaine seemed to solve all my problems because they made me feel powerful and extroverted and they enabled me to have sex like a porn star without guilt.

The odd thing was that, though I had endless sexual desire and was fucking all the time, I wasn’t really enjoying sex. I was running faster and faster in place but getting nowhere, like a rat on a tread wheel. At age 27 I crashed like a fine crystal figurine being shattered on concrete. I crashed my new car, was charged with DUI, had an abortion, got fired from my job and evicted from my apartment. I ended up sleeping at different guys apartments and was homeless during the day until one night I went to a bad place, was gang raped and ended up naked and passed out on a freeway median on a cold February night.

It took two years for me to recover, mostly thanks to a wonderful woman that I knew who took me in when I was homeless, broke and shattered. With her love and support, I went through rehab and slowly put my life back together. I finally faced my anxieties, got on proper medication, and made contact with sex positive people who enabled my to accept my sexuality without guilt.

I guess I should say “the moral of this story is…” but I don’t know what that is. I guess I know that not facing your inner demons can fuck you up bad, and the grace and love of friends can save you.

It starts-

"IN the midway of this our mortal life,

I found me in a gloomy wood, astray

Gone from the path direct"

Pretty much sums up your life to this point in 3 lines and you ask if you should read it...
