Most law firms have you concentrate on one practice, whereas solos need to do a variety. Did you guys just take a bunch of CLEs, learn on your own, or just bullshit it all?

1. Google.

2. Practice or State Bar listservs

3. Just call up a lawyer you know that has handled a similar case in the past. If they're Chill Bros, they'll just send you their old copies of stuff.

Most people go with 3. My former partner was this guys crutch for like 6 months. He shadowed all the deals and when the jr bro had a question, would guide him through what his response should be. After about 6 months, jr bro stopped reaching out b/c he had the majority of what he needed.

Didn't. Every time I try to do something different I'm terrible at it and lose money. General practitioner is Boomer flame.

Tbf had government experience in my area before I started, then joined a shitlaw form doing the same work, then went solo(ish)

It would probably help if lolschools taught their students how to practice law but that would make too much sense.

after dipping my toes into bankruptcy and scaring myself silly, I found a couple CLE materials online to read to help myself.

You can find CLE materials on pretty much any subject on google (not necessarily in your state though), google things like this "bankruptcy CLE PDF" or "tax attorneys CLE PDF" shit like that. Won't tell you everything but it can give you a good background

Is it easier from a work perspective in the sense that your clients are local proles and small business bros so your work product doesn’t have to be perfect? I imagine starting Tony’s Pizza business for him is a little less intense than a v10 corporate merger.
