Glock 19 pwns all at capacity/weight because of the bore axis but it's still a full-size basically.

With that aside -

1. PPQ

2. VP9

Cheaper options:

3. CZ P10

3. Canik for a cheaper option (internet posters love it)

4. M&P (sucks somewhat more than Glock but costs like half as much new)

Hella expensive new. One of those guns that's bigger and has less capacity than Glock. One of the few guns that they say has a worse trigger too. Looks cool af and probably jams 1% less often.

Phenotypically, all polymer striker guns look ridiculous except Glock and 1 or 2 others max but ymmv.

The P8 is hammer operated so yeah it won’t jam or produce light primer strikes anything like as often as a TTT striker fire. I will always take a hammer over striker fire mostly cause after the apocalypse ammo quality will be shit and a hammer design won’t care

I don't understand why price matters when you are talking about a $100-200 spread over pistols that are all objectively reliable and high capacity.

That money will easily be spent on ammo and practice, which is far more important than marginal differences in striker fired pistols.

Idk it's just a psychological thing. $349.99 pistols are 180 compared to $515.99+tax Glocks. In other words you are right, the cheaper one is better in every way!

Difference between PPQ and Glock is not marginal btw imho.

Glocks have short barrels and are just not as accurate as the alternatives. Take a 4 ounce weight penalty and get a gun with an extra inch of barrel and seriously consider any design that isnt a browning action with that TTT moving barrel. The real question is why a Glock at all at this point? The competition has more than caught up.

The M9 is a fixed barrel design, and doesn’t have a traditional feed ramp. It basically will never jam as a result unless you seriously gunk up the exposed barrel. You have to intentionally try to jam the thing. The PX4 has a rotating barrel but it doesn’t tilt. Rotation is fine.

The problem with Berettas is weight and size. People bitch about the rail mounted safety but the rail mounted safety moves the firing pin and is thus more reliable or more safe than a CZ or Sig style frame mounted safety.

It comes down to preference though. Bigger hands will like the Beretta. Smaller hands will prefer a CZ or a Sig.

Glock has the widest range of barrel lengths, calibers, and sizes of any pistol manufacturer in existence. It's really not even close.

New polymers still mostly cannot match Gaston's original 80s design when it comes to size/weight, capacity, and footprint. Its astounding really.

Glock's big misstep in the pas 5+ years is the single stack carry market. There are tons of great options, and Glock always seems to be 1-2 rounds below the competition.

In every size class the CZ has a barrel that is a quarter inch to a full inch longer. The CZ is always just slightly larger than the comparable Glock. That’s by design.

Internet posters speak highly of it but not sure why it isn't SAO given its purpose. Don't underestimate SAO, i.e. it's usually a lot better than the SA trigger on DA/SA. As a result, unless you have a talent for shooting, your Beretta is going to print preposterous groups compared to what you could do with a 1911.

There are different divisions in competition shooting. The Shadow is for the “production” shooters. Production division guns have to have a DA/SA. The CZ Orange is for the group that shoots single action. It’s trigger is under 2 pounds which make it too insane for home defense. You’ll shoot yourself with that light a trigger.

I've seen SAO CZs but they're pretty limited production... the Shadow 2 seems pricey too. I still think a 1911 would be better though. Not sure what a CZ does better, probably better at rapid fire.

Btw are these plastique guns going to be cheap forever or is there just a surplus from the Army's handgun trials+ all the different models developed?
