Watching a dialogue/cutscenes playthrough on YouTube every night as I fall asleep. This game is still the GOAT jrpg.
Music: 180
Characters : 180
Plot: 180
Art /Graphics: 180 (not a technical masterpiece but they really convey the epic scale of the game)
There's really nothing else out there with such a complex, fast-moving plot that simultaneously builds suspense and yet doesn't make you go through scores of text in-game encyclopedia entries (the modern jrpg trope) to try to understand it all. Shitloads of twists, lots of action, perfect pacing. Characters are complex and you really care about them by the end. The only real knock on it that I'm noticing now for the first time, is that some individual lines of dialogue are awkwardly written.
But this game is a fucking masterpiece. It's been out for so long and nothing has really challenged it in terms of a compelling plot.
