Trump would say Iran has been increasing aggression in the region, recently attacking oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman, creating huge problems for transport of oil. Theyd also say that they are fomenting instability in the region by supporting groups like Hezbollah and the Houthis and they must be stopped.
Iran would say that the Trump government is being extremely unreasonable and putting an economic chokehold on the country. They withdrew from the nuclear agreement but expect Iran to adhere to its terms anyway while still being subject to sanctions which make adherence impossible. It's absurd. Iran would say it's support for Hezbollah is the support of a popular Shia movement in Lebanon, part of the main government structure and in Syria, theyve been invited in by the legitimate government. They;d probably downplay their relationship with the Houthis, but note that they have a better claim to the seat of power in Yemen than the Saudi puppet government. They'd also deny responsibility for the oil tanker incidents in the region.
