Although they suffer from their fair share of problems, Black Americans rightfully have a place in this country, and going back to Crispus Attucks, they have played an integral role in this country's history.
Of course, they have not produced an Einstein, an Alexander Graham Bell, or a George Washington, but we owe enough to John Coltrane, Nat King Cole, and Thomas Sowell, to admit that Black Americans were indispensable in the development of the American culture and identity. The black soldiers of WWII, who died overseas for a country that disrespected them at home, were true American heroes, and fuck anyone who disagrees with me.
These hucksters who are campaigning on the reparations agenda are undermining the tenacity and dignity of all of the great Black Americans who came before them. They are demeaning their own race, and playing the helpless victim, and groveling for scraps.
The only more shameful people are the white libs, who abide by this insult to the very black people they pretend to represent.

My point is that these freemen who were allowed to stay are an insignificant number compared to the post-slavery blacks whom whites allowed to stay only under the assumptions that (1) there would be no payments to these freed slaves for their labor and (2) given the large numbers of freed black slaves, whites crucially would retain their status as the superior group and not allow blacks to be a large, influential political bloc. |

This is a monumentally retarded post for a couple reasons. First, how would you possibly begin to quantify the amount of "additional money" that "needs to be paid" for the torture etc.? Are you going to be able to figure out the whole family history of all 40 million of America's blacks, to discover which blacks had which slave ancestors who were tortured for what total length of time at what level of intensity, and by whom, and who the torturers' present-day descendants are, and how much money they inherited from their slave ancestors, so as to determine the amount of torture compensation to which each black is entitled? And then somehow come up with a formula for determining the number of dollars of compensation owed for each minute of torture?
Second, even if we ignore all of that absurdity, it's not clear why you think this point refutes my argument. One of the first things I wrote ITT was "Sure they should have [been paid for their labor], but..." Feel free to amend that to "...paid some money for their labor and some additional money for their other suffering." Your objection isn't relevant to anything else I argued. |
