And even less are Brahmin (only around 26% or all Indian Americans):
Among Indian-Americans, 54% are Hindu, 16% are Christian, 10% are Atheists/Unaffiliated, 9% are Muslim, 8% are Sikh and remaining 3% are Jains and Buddhists. Right now as of 2018 these figures are the closest to being accurate.
Majority of the Unaffiliated Americans of Indian origin are of Hindu background. Some have turned atheist, others have converted (mainly to Protestant faith).
Among the estimated 2 million Hindu Indian-Americans, at least 2/3rd or 67% would be the upper castes (General Category) from all over India (In India upper caste Hindus form just 20% of the population). This means there are about 1.4 million Hindu upper caste citizens of the USA.
Among the Hindu upper castes in the USA the single largest community are Brahmins, who comprise anywhere between 50%(half) and 66%(two-thirds) of the Hindu General Caste American citizens. Most of these Brahmins are of Punjabi, Tamil, Gujarati and Northern Indian origin. There are Brahmins families of Bengali, Odia and Keralite origin as well.
Thus the Brahmin Americans in total number between 700,000 and 1.2 million, forming 2% of all Brahmins worldwide . Though a tiny minority among Americans, they are among the elite communities in the USA, a nation that has provided them opportunities that they could never have got in their homeland.
