This is the dumbest, most cucked GC military industrial complex trolling I’ve ever seen. What kind of retard believes that we live in a world where US tanks might someday roll on Moscow without the Western Hemisphere being glassed and vice versa? I’d say Russian tanks could roll on DC but lol just lol at Russian projection power.

1. They aren’t building them in droves.

2. To the extent they are building them it’s to aim them at Russia and India since most of the US is out of range for Chinese based MRBMs.

3. The treaty was less about cutting numbers than about upping time from launch early warning. MRBMs in Europe gave you 5 minutes of time to commit. MRBMs in China give you 20 minutes of warning. There is no comparison with respect to the danger.

4. Russian and Chinese missiles today are OVER A GENERATION ahead of US tech. This is not a race the US is going to win so starting it from a twenty year tech gap and with a shrunk industrial base was retarded. The Russian stuff is a full two generations ahead of American designs. They have better motors, better fuels, and gimbal tech the US does not even have on the drawing board.

5. There is no existing commitment from allies to actually base these missiles. That’s the worst part. China and Russia now have a totally free hand and the US can’t even be sure it has a place to park these missiles. Japan and S. Korea won’t let you. Australia? Maybe.

LJL. No they won’t. Nobody in Asia wants to turn a conflict over drilling rights in the South China Sea into a nuclear exchange. It’s a frozen and largely BS conflict that heats up every election season somewhere but that nobody but the US has any incentive to see turned into a Cold War. They all do mega business with China and don’t actually want China crippled.

The idea that China or Russia is "a generation ahead" in anything is ridiculous. Their tech is entirely dependent on what they manage to steal from the US via spies. The Chinese still can't build modern jet engines, for example. It's simply beyond their scientific capability at the moment. But yea, they're lapping us in missile tech.

Depends on circumstances. If you're talking about countries using their forces abroad to "project power" instead of defending their own countries, then they might choose to withdraw instead of mutually assured destruction. Just like the US took the loss in Vietnam and the USSR took the loss in Afghanistan without resorting to nukes.

If the US was fighting Russia in E. Europe, it would probably lose. It would still be retarded to use nukes in that scenario for the US. However, in a scenario where, for example, the US engaged Russia in places like Ukraine or other FSU countries, Russia absolutely would use nukes because they cannot accept losses there. It is all about stakes.

I doubt this. You cannot win a ground war without air supremacy, and the Russians have shown zero ability to sustain a large air campaign outside of Russian borders. The US has spent trillions of dollars over decades becoming good at it. Russia hasn't.

You can't rebuild AA defenses. Even if the F-35 is a dud, America has enough air firepower to knock out all of the S300s and S400 at Russia's disposal and still have enough planes left to dominate Russian air space. If nukes were never invented Russia would be a NATO country by now.

At literally every point in post war history, the U.S. has exaggerated the military capability of its enemies to justify more defense spending.

They essentially made up the number of Russian strategic bombers to ramp up production of American bombers.

They overestimated the number of ballistic missiles Russians had produced by an order of several magnitudes.

They exaggerated the capability of Russian tanks (and the ability of US air power to counteract it) to justify placing more missiles in Turkey/Germany.

They hyped the danger of Russian nuclear subs while those subs were literally having nuclear meltdowns underwater because the Soviets couldn't master safe reactor designs.

And we're still falling for it. Lol. Guess what? We probably already have directed energy beam weapons and hypersonic missiles that are ready for deployment, or close to it, just like we had a stealth bomber 20 years before anyone thought it was feasible. Stop falling for this concern trolling.

The Soviets enjoyed overhelming superiority in nukes and missiles from 1970-1991. And the tank threat was not exaggerated one bit.

Psst... In the 60s the perceived missile gap mattered because missile were inaccurate and because there was a very real worry land based ICBMs could be destroyed in a first strike. Improvements in accuracy and the development of ballistic subs rendered these points moot, just as ICBMs rendered the fictional bomber gap moot. The Soviets we're winning a race the US wasn't competing in.

It is really amazing that people buy this shit. This is like the Team B planning exercise in the 1970's that concluded we were dangerously vulnerable to the USSR. Or the non-existent missile gap in the 1950's. There are people who are ideologically committed and financially motivated to depict us as vulnerable to foreign enemies. The reality is Russia is a paper tiger that has an economy roughly the size of the greater Boston area and few true allies. They make Elon Musk-like announcements of futuristic weapon systems and people just accept them on face value.

https://nationalinterest.org/blog/the-buzz/not-so-scary-why-russias-military-paper-tiger-14136

While select portions of the Russian military—most notably the Strategic Missile Forces, airborne forces and naval infantry—have been extensively modernized, other forces still rely on ill trained conscripts and dilapidated hardware held over from the Soviet-era. In other words, Russia’s military modernization has been uneven at best.

Most of the US military's shit is from the Soviet era too. Weapons systems have 50-100 year lifespans.

The US spends $80B on defense R&D - more than Russia spends on their entire military. Get out of here with your faux commie loving bullshit.

The US has almost 500 stealth 5th generation fighters at its disposal at the moment, with approximately 100 more per year becoming active. The F-35 just set a record, taking part of a sortie 7 hours (!!) after leaving its production facility. This means they can take part of military operations hours/days after Lockheed rolls them off the production line.

https://www.military.com/military-report/f-35-sets-new-record.html

China/Russia have zero actual 5th generation fighters. Within 5 years the disparity will be 1,000 fighters to maybe a few dozen, not counting all the F-35s our allies will be procuring as well.

DARPA is already researching ways for the F-35 to be used to shoot down hypersonic missiles. The F-35 can already shoot down cruise missiles.

What people don't realize is that the F-35 is not really a plane, it's a moving missile defense platform. It's effectively the modern version of Reagan's Star Wars.

Imagine that we start some sort of conflict with Russia or China in the next decade and they start shooting missiles at us. Within minutes the combined forces of the USAF, USN and Marines can have +2,000 state of the art radars, sensor suites, and missile platforms up in the air ready to intercept anything our enemies throw at us. The military is also working on networking the F-35's sensors and making them interoperable with the rest of the defensive/offensive weapons suites available (think THAAD, Aegis, GMD, etc.).

The disparity in defensive and offensive capability is generational. We are 20-30 years ahead of our "peers", even though we've spent the last 20 years fighting Muslims in the sand. Can you imagine what our capabilities will be in 10 years after we've focused on defeating our "peers"?

A few comments.

1. A lot of those disparaties are needed for the US to prevail because the US is operating far away from the country, while China and Russia are not.

2. Some of that is purely hypothetical. Yeah, maybe they'll get something that will shoot down hypersonic missiles. With what effectiveness? If you assume China and Russia can fire 1000 of them and you can't tell which are nukes and which are decoys and it is 70-80% effective (which, would be impressive), you still are a nuclear wasteland.

3. China and Russia are also investing in R&D, of course.

4. While the US has been fighting various Muslims with AKs and roadside bombs, they haven't been doing all that well compared to Russia. I remember Obama boasting about how screwed Putin is and that Assad and Putin are fucked. How did that turn out? How are the US-backed moderate Islamists rebels doing?

5. And I can't emphasize this enough - the US population isn't going to stomach a real war with Russia and/or China. Let's say the US can win with massive losses. The survivors will demand the heads of whoever picked that war (and rightly so).
