she's fine with my brother and i being orthodox except things like the thanksgiving episode w my brother's ultraortho slut wife (remember all that threading)?
we didnt even go to hebrew school until i was in 5th grade but she wanted me to have a bar mitzvah. my dad is way more into it than she is. |

You have to understand that when I read these things they all take the form of "someone is breaking [insert bizarre Jewish rule that causes me to wonder if the thread is flame because it can't possibly be real] and someone else is super offended and as a result someone doesn't want to invite someone else to [insert family event/holiday - a wedding/Thanksgiving/etc.]. Does the person have to be invited? Another family member is very offended by the lack of invitation." There were several series of threads that took this form.

Sounds pretty religious to me. Why would a non-religious person want you to go to hebrew school or have a bar mitzvah? Sounds like she is merely less religious than your dad.
