Apparently they're meant to track day by day so you may not get 3x for a period of your choosing

I would guess in exchange for not being wiped out you lose upside in a recovery compared to a simple 3x of the normal ETF

What were you even thinking when you bought that shit lol? At the time you owned it the service had already stopped growing, wasn't profitable, had made no major acquisitions that could turn things around, etc.

you're getting that higher yield at the cost of higher equity risk exposure. shyg (and most other high yield bond funds) exhibits about 25% or so of stock market risk. you're essentially transforming equity-type risk into ordinary income, which isn't tax efficient.

also, the expense ratio of 0.3% isn't that far off from some good actively managed bond funds. illiquid hy bonds are one place where active management--at appropriate prices--can more than make up for their fees.

yea ill see. 0.3% is my highest expense ratio so i dont like it but im just gonna see

and yea does seem "junk" bond type muni funds basically are correlated to stocks

but fuk there is no good yield now.. maybe dividend ETF?

Is the tax free nature of muni bonds attractive to you? You can't be paying much in income tax, are you?

If your tax rate is low the Muni has less advantage than if you have a high marginal rate, is what I'm saying. Not that it's a bad investment, but it negates some of the appeal.

You don’t need bonds. Yields are shit and you need more growth as you have 20+ years before retirement. Load up on growth funds in IRA. Also get some emerging markets. Also should get something with a high dividend yield to spit off some cash if you are not reporting a lot of income these days. Check here: https://www.nerdwallet.com/blog/investing/high-dividend-stocks/ Kontoor, TD, or Wells Fargo are decent buys.
