the video was on a bigscreen, and zizek was walking around on a stage pausing it every now and then with a clicker and frenetically making arguments while the audience watched.

This is very beautiful stuff, the uhh hero Mister Tarrant, is being oppressed, and he *sniff* violently opposes the demagogue with an act of revolution.

i remember some specific arguments that zizek was making in the dream. in the part of the video after tarrant leaves the first mosque, zizek pauses it and brings up karlheinz stockhausen's comments about how 9/11 was a massive work of performance art. zizek then notes that all the 9/11 videos were taken at a long distance from the actual impact sites, creating a gap between event and observer.

he noted that the tarrant video was far more claustrophobic and fuzzy and had no real partition between observer and action, which ultimately diminished its "magnitude." dream zizek said that it failed to meet the stockhausen criteria.

another weird moment in the dream: zizek paused the video while tarrant was doing the multi-point turn with his car in the parking lot, said some stuff, and added "What a PLATONOVITE MISERY!

i knew he was talking about Andrei Platonov, the author of the grim stalinist-era novel "The Foundation Pit." but i don't recall what he said leading up to that exclamation. and it's kind of bothersome, because i remember this bit of commentary being one of dream zizek's best insights.

i remember another thing that zizek said - he paused the video during the introductory scene where the serbian 'remove kebab' polka song was playing, and said 'We are approaching the core the drama - but note the way the path is prepared' and noted that the song had come to represent a sort of free-form international 'community' based more on aesthetic than actual political values in the concrete sense. he pointed out the rarity of tarrant's behavior in relation to the song, even though the song directly advocates tarrant's actions.

zizek commented that this implies that "action," as such (political or otherwise) largely arises from hyperlocal conditions (ie, people in a building without heat in winter would be primarily concerned about that), and that moving beyond hyperlocality was generally a function of oligarchic or state-based structures, with tarrant being a sort of rarity which nonetheless can probably be predicted as a matter of ratio and rate, given sufficient data.
