Cardio is important but lifting is extremely underrated in importance for overall health.

Anaerobic work outs are also heart healthy.

Depends. If you lit heavy and do 3-5 minutes between sets it wont.

If you do a circuit with lifts every 90 seconds and core work in between it will.

Set 1.

120 BPM immediate post.

85 BPM 60 seconds later, lasted until next set.

Set 2.

115 BPM.

95 60 seconds later.

Back to 75 by next set

Sets 3 through 5 basically the same. I was surprised I didnt go higher. Will test it out on squats later

Forcing yourself to do cardio you don't like is definitely not cr, because you won't do it enough

Find cardio you like. First it has mental benefits that lifting doesn't. Second, to get the physical benefits of cardio you have to do it much more consistently than lifting (and probably for longer) and youll only actually do that if you enjoy it.

yes, you should enjoy cardio but ANY amount of cardio is good. Cleaning your apartment counts as cardio. Anything that elevates your heart rate and gets blood pumping. Gardening, walking, playing with your dog. Every bit of it is good and beneficial, and the longer and more intense the better. It takes a while with cardio to get to point of no/diminishing returns.

Probably fine if you're already healthy weight. Good arguments that walking is better than running, and certainly better than jogging. That said, there's some benefit to conditioning for lifting performance and overall wellbeing. If you lift a lot and do no conditioning the law of diminishing returns suggests you would get more marginal benefit from adding conditioning compared to more lifting volume. If you can get 50% of the benefit of doing regular cardio by adding just 2 20 min conditioning sessions a week why not?

You need resistance training and time in each heart rate zone. Walking is inadequate.

At minimum go for a few hours of steady state work at 65% max HR and 2 days of interval training weekly.

Hour a day of resistance training

Lots of dynamic stretching and mobility work

ya just make sure u get ur heart rate up and sweat when you lift. cardio is for ppl who cant control their diets

there's also emerging evidence that cardio has quickly diminishing returns, and extended cardio can actually hurt you

there's also the indisputable fact that people who run marathons look like ghastly and sick

and there's also my favorite piece of broscience (supported by TRUMP): that ur body can only process a finite amount of oxygen and u shouldn't waste it running

source: i haven't done cardio in 6 years and the last time i went to the doc i had a 47 bpm heart rate. last friday i benched 315 x 2

ideally you should be constantly in starvation mode and only doing your bodyweight for lifts (i.e. you weigh 200 you can only curl 200)

i want to believe that cardio is a necessity for a great, long life

however, whenever you see the centenarians talk about why they made it, they invariably point to shit that ain't related to health and fitness

What makes you think those people have any idea why they lived that long?

your post is not pure bullshit, but it's bullshit

the people who have outlived everyone they've ever known are instinctually going to point to the differences between them and everyone else as to their secret to outliving everyone else.

no, it doesn't mean they are correct, but you'd think we would have more examples of staying fit, etc than we do if that were the secret to longevity

Lifting is for retards and does nothing for your fitness other than destroying your back and knees.

This is as wrong as the "no cardio" liftingmo crew.

resistance training done properly improves musculoskeletal health. anecdotally, i've solved a number of nagging injuries through resistance training, including a total shoulder ligament tear and a partial meniscus tear.
