are you ignoring what just happened to david lat?
also, are you ignoring the fact that hydroxychloroquine is by far the CHEAPEST solution? in contagion, the drug was expensive and there was a huge profit to be made on it, there is almost none with hydroxychloroquine

there are ongoing trials. in the meantime its only given to ppl who are in critical condition in ICU with very bad prognosis as an experimental drug
if you are saying that there is no conclusive evidence that it helps sure you are right as there has been no randomized control study. but its shown some promise that Drs are willing to prescribe it for patients in critical condition as a last resort
what is funny is that ppl like EPAH think its not effective which is the same as saying its definitely effective. at this point nobody knows

No it's supportive measures as said earlier.
IV Fluids
Incentive spirometry
If in ICU, vasodilators like Adrenaline, Atropine to increase the heart rate
Antibiotics frequently cause GI upset and can land you in the hospital longer with profuse diarrhea due to pseudomembranous colitis.

It’s pretty common practice here. You see it with misdiagnosed COVID patients.
Flu positive, yes tamiflu (although it’s not clear it has any real benefit for basically healthy people or at all unless given early — sound familiar), but also antibiotics.
Given US docs give antibiotics for almost certainly viral colds, why would you think they don’t give them for pneumonia (most of which ends up being bacterial)? And oh by the way a lot of bacterial pneumonia is now drug resistant because docs were giving antibiotics for minor strep throat.

'misdiagnosed COVID patients. '
You mean people who can't afford for the screening test (which is not a sensitive or specific exam)
'Flu positive, yes tamiflu (although it’s not clear it has any real benefit for basically healthy people or at all unless given early — sound familiar), but also antibiotics. '
No, this does not happen.

You do realize that before FDA, drugs were given for various things and, holy shit, a lot of them actually worked as intended.
Here is but one example:

It’s not a schtick. I am well known for believing that doctors are mostly fraud idiots and pharma is the biggest fraud industry around.
If you look at Colchicine you can get a glimpse of why. It was used for more than 500 years (probably more like 3500 plus years), everyone knew it worked, it was cheap and off patent, then Fucking Dead Americans decided to let a drug company make it a patent drug to run a study then end result of which was that (1) it did work (no shit), (2) you could use a very slightly lower dose (fraud bullshit) and (3) the price went from 9 cents to $4.85 a pill.
Since basic antibiotics, almost nothing new in drugs has been much good for anything (except maybe boner pills which were discovered by accident), yet somehow pharma is worth trillions developing on patent drugs for things that have already been effectively treated with off patent drugs.
So yes, I do hope that hydroxychloroquine works (it does). And if pharma companies were focused on cures, not profits, we would probably have a lot more treatments as existing drugs have a lot of additional applications, just no one knows because you can make money by using off patent drugs to treat things.
If you want another one, how about Kaletra. Two off patent drugs in one pill now on patent. Fraud lies.

This is why nobody takes you seriously.
The worst part is not only are you stupid, your arrogant as fuck.
You think doctors aren't aware that big pharma is a big scam? Or is only you, the arrogant parasite scumbag lawyer, enlightened!!!!
Look up Camphor. And tell me why NSAIDs have been used for the past century. Your not in on a secret. But your arrogance about something of which you are cumpletely clueless is your worst flaw.

I did not stumble on anything. This is well know fraud to those that look for it, but most of America is completely oblivious to the scam. Things that should be pennies can cost hundreds if not thousands of dollars.
Doctors are the ones getting paid to write scripts for on patent meds when off patent meds work just as well so they are complicit in perpetrating the fraud. Let alone severely over prescribing drugs generally.
That pharma has so many politicians bought and paid for that it would make the banks and military industrial complex blush is further proof.
I worked on probably 100 pharma deals in my career so I know the industry well. It’s not arrogance, it being appalled.

No it's arrogance. I am in Australia where the vast majority of drugs are listed on a benefits schedule and cost next to nothing to the consumer. And there is no profit gained by the doctor especially considering every prescription is monitored and tracked.
You are free to take whatever you want and you are free to decline to see a doctor or to decline a doctor's advice.
Just don't like a fucking retard because your jealous that you are the scum of society for a living.

So in OZ I can walk into a pharmacy get hydroxychloroquine and a z-pack without seeing a doctor for a few bucks like a bottle of Advil?
I don’t think that’s true.
Can I order them from India?
Can I get an appointment with Australian NHS or whatever it is in short order?
There is very little that should actually need a prescription at all (mainly addictive drugs or things that could be used recreationally). Instead, doctors have a monopoly on “drugs.” Why is that? Because that is basically all the vast majority of them are good for and how they make money.
Need to renew your birth control prescription ($5 a month a Walmart) sorry, that requires an office visit $250 plus. Why is plan B 30 or 50 bucks or whatever when it is a pill that is off patent for years and costs pennies?
That healthcare is such a huge percentage of the US GDP is proof of the scam.
XO rants about the law school (and education more generally scam) but healthcare is much worse.

I don’t need any drugs personally.
You can bet, however, that if hydroxychloroquine was OTC, I’d have taken it.

"doctors are frauds - chloro is a perfect cure!"
"chloro is the perfect cure - just look at the docs prescribing it!"
"Chloro is the perfect cure because india says it reduces viral loads"

those are all fair points but assuming:
1. minimal risks
2. potential benefits to health
3. massive potential benefits to economy
4. preliminary anecdoctal/observational evidence of benefit . . .
. . . i would argue that the circumstances justify shifting the burden of proof re: the drug combo to those who * don't believe * that it works. obviously we would never do this in ordinary circumstances since rigorous/double-blind studies exist for a reason, but these aren't ordinary circumstances.
