I'm kinda dipping my toe in the more contemporary prog and I haven't found anything that comes close to this album yet. So much of newer prog is just monster musicians showing how monstrous they are in an amazing but sterile manner (e.g. Dream Theater), which, for me, gets old pretty quickly.
Gentle Giant definitely influenced Wobbler's sound, especially with the baroque motifs and other odd, eclectic elements that they explore. And of course, early Yes (Close to the Edge). |
