I'm a gay person and Marsha (the doodle) really was a hero in the community. She was among the first to fight back when the cops raided the Stonewall bar to arrest gay people in 1969 and was very visible, looking like that, in a time when being out could mean risking your life.
I wonder though, bc this is information I don't necessarily get access to in my IRL, what are your thoughts/feelings as a str8 dude seeing this? Something like Clown World?
I'm actually interested to know.

It's interesting that you see this through a lense of winners and losers. To me, it's Marsha, a trans woman who was visible at a difficult time and was eventually found dead in the Hudson River under mysterious circumstances. To you, it feels like a cultural assault. But even I did not know who Marsha was until a few years ago.
Anyway, we are just talking about a Google Doodle here that's going to be up for a day.
Do you think Marsha is ever going to be as big as Christmas? Lol.

Lol ok fair, but would you consider you may be missing some nuance here?
I'll elaborate. Her sex work was likely bc she had to do it to make ends meet as she couldn't get a job (as is the case for many trans people today). You may consider her mentally ill, but the visibility she brought to the gay community and the fight she led that led to an organized movement to attain rights for gay people and to stop the persecution of gays is why she is respected. She used the little money she made and tried to reinvest it in the community by renting an apartment where homeless runaways could stay in alphabet city who had nowhere else to go.
So it's more layered than you posit here.

I don't think I misunderstand, the Christmas example was lazy. What you are saying is you see this as another example of the 'normalization' of something you consider abnormal and possibly immoral. You see this as an affront to the boundaries of what is healthy or normal or should be valued in a society.
A few things: One, the definition of what that includes can and does change over time. Example: all of history.\
Secondly, giving recognition to Marsha, whether on an individual level or in a Google doodle, does not diminish you in any way, although you may not condone homosexuality or you believe trans people are "mentally ill".
And finally, what can I tell you? Gay people exist and they have people they revere as heroes. Trans people exist, too. These people exist. You don't have to understand it. Like Dave Chappelle said "I don't understand them, but, they do cut off their dicks! They must be serious!"
So, maybe one day instead of seeing this as a "loss" for your side and a "win" for another, maybe you will see there are no real "sides", just people.
I don't expect you to agree. As a gay person, I can tell you am happy to now live in a world where I don't have to be as fearful or worry about being arrested or jailed for being who I am, due in large part to people like Marsha, imperfect as they may be.

Isn't this really the point though?
LGBT people are a small fraction of the country, certainly less than 5%. And their reproductive rates are small, much smaller than heteros, meaning that they as a group have far less invested in the posterity of the country.
And yet, here you are, a self-proclaimed conservative no less, brushing aside the absolute ASSAULT on the family, fertility, sexual virtue, gender roles, etc because it is something that directly affects you in a positive way.
You can't possibly think that the entire LGBT lobby has really just focused on persecution and jail and the right to privacy in one's bedroom. It has been absolutely genocidal to traditional family structure and norms and gender roles, to Western civilization's detriment.
It's a great example of fiddling while Rome burns, and focusing totally on one's own individual desires at the expense of carefully constructed systems over the course of millennia.

Okay but again, I don't really agree with you.
LGBT people fought for gay liberation for access to job security, equal protection under the law, and actually for the opportunity to BUILD families and be able to HAVE marriages and all the tax benefits therein.
How does allowing gays these privileges destroy the Western Family or affect what anyone else does? You really blame the LGBTQ community for declining fertility? Is it their fault in Western Europe and Japan too? It has nothing to do with economics? It's a trend across literally every Western economy.
It's like the old saying "if you don't like gay marriage, don't get one."
Did allowing gays to JOIN the institution of marriage do more damage to the institution of marriage and family than divorce and the 50 percent divorce rate, wherein straight people treat marriage like a disposable commodity? Kim Kardashian was able to get married for publicity.
Nothing about gay community's struggle for equality is anti-Family. Look at trends across the world and in your own communities.

yes this is exactly my point. but this point (which is unquestionably true) directly refutes this comment, which you make slightly later: "So, maybe one day instead of seeing this as a "loss" for your side and a "win" for another, maybe you will see there are no real "sides", just people."
there are definitely sides and one side is winning, one losing.

Again, this comes down to something like what people call "tranny bathrooms". Trans people were using their preferred bathrooms long before you ever cared or even thought about the notion of this.
A group gaining civil acceptance and rights is not a loss for another group, it's a gain for society as a whole.
Your same logic could be applied to the end of slavery or the end of Jim Crow and "blacks only", "whites only" facilities.
When Marsha threw one of the first bricks at Stonewall, it opened the door for gay people to say they're not taking the harassment anymore. This doesn't diminish you, your family or life in any real way. You may believe homosexuality is wrong, trans people are mentally ill. That is okay. You're entitled to believe as you want. But these people exist and are not tolerating a second class status anymore. The people and issues are real, even if you take the opposite view on them. I understand how you feel but what I'm saying is in reality, it is not truly a 'loss' for you in any way.

the left is literally teaching kids that anyone can be any gender.
like, i'm sorry that a handful of people are mentally ill and think they are another gender or another race or dolphins or whatever. treating those people with compassion does not mean tearing down gender norms.
and yes, i do not think this is all the fault of trans, but again it doesn't help because the left uses those people as a shield to make reinforcement of gender norms an attack on trans people.
--------------------------
bathrooms are a great example. as Rush said, if people are uncomfortable, then simply require a single stall bathroom with a locked door. the reason that's never proposed is because the goal isn't to make everyone comfortable.

"the left is literally teaching kids that anyone can be any gender."
I hear you on this and there is an organized effort by some to promote this backed by fake degrees in critical gender studies, that is absolutely true. Mainly in academia and it's leaked into activism.
We all know that there are biologically two sexes and they are different. Nothing will ever change that fact. Human gender roles and sexuality are more complicated, and its very possible something happens in the human 'printing process' the causes someone to become trans or the wiring gets redirected.
At the same time, I don't think it's right to push ideas like this that go against clear scientific facts and that we should accept "critical theories" of gender, when most people do in fact have genders and natural roles that match their sex due to the dual-sex nature of the human species. While there may be different 'expressions' of gender, or reasons for it, we cannot be forced to deny or accept things that are clearly against scientific and biological realities.

I knew a famous tranny when I was younger and I don't want to say who because the person was somewhat high profile.
But my parents, who are very conservative, said that if the person wanted to live his/her life that way, then so be it so long as that person didn't project their feelings onto others. I distinctly remember that conversation and I think most people today would agree with that.
But that's not the purpose of trannies on the left, and that's why the movement is bad. And it's EXCEPTIONALLY confusing to kids especially, at a time when they don't really understand who they are and are very impressionable. I mean, we don't go around exposing kids to bi-polar disorder and schizophrenia; we shouldn't actively expose them to transsexualism either.
