You can now snap windows in half or quarter screens anyway. There's no need for multiple screens.

I have this. One of the major benefits (compared to dual monitors) is the build in kvm switch, so I have 2 computers hooked up to it, and I can switch the monitor, keyboard, and mouse between them by hitting a few buttons. That’d be a much bigger pain with 2 monitors.
You need at least one of your 2 computers to support usb-c if you want to do this.
I used to have 2x27" monitors, but I almost never used one of them, and they took up the entirety of my 60" desk, which made it impossible for me to use it for anything else

I had a 32" at one point. I realized that it isn't really big enough.

I'm on a call right now and I have a browser window with email taking up left half, then right top quarter is a Webex window, and below that is instant messaging window. This wouldn't work on a 32" screen.

Yes. The quarter window is just too small at that point.

It is less the images and more text/presentations in the quarter screens.

"but at some point I do feel you have to make a trade off otherwise you look like an oafish prole twiddling your tiny pink mouse in front of what for all purposes is a tv"
Who cares? Your camera points away from it anyway. Now, since this started everyone has taken an interest in my home office so I showed my team and one guy even also bought a 43" 4k screen.
"For example I won’t get a 77 inch tv even though my living room could support it bc it’s just tacky luke screenwatcher shit."
The problem with a 77" TV for a screen is that it is meant to sit across a room. That isn't really convenient or useful for a monitor. For a few feet at the end of your desk? 43-55" is probably the ideal range IMO.

Yeah, it is a separate room on the second floor. It isn't like a portion of the living room or something.

I do this. I have a single 43" 4k monitor. It is the size of 4 1080p 21.5" monitors with no borders. This one: https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-43UD79-B-4k-uhd-led-monitor
I love it. When it finally dies this is the one I'm getting: https://www.lg.com/us/tvs/lg-oled48cxpub-oled-4k-tv
I don't understand multiple monitors after doing this. It is perfect.

It is. My Xbox One X is connected to it too.
That said, I feel like this is the ideal size. I prefer 43-48" over 55".

2 small is better than one big imo. unless you have a need to view massive xls worksheets.
i think you can partician a big one into 2 separate windows which gets to the same place.

I don't understand why someone would think this. I had 2 monitors before this and 1 large is far superior. The borders are a distraction and a good large monitor is actually like 4 monitors, not 2.

If you snap to the side, it takes up half. Snap into a corner, and it automatically takes up 1/4 of the screen. It is very fast and easy.

Drag the window to a side and it automatically fits itself to exactly half the window. Drag it to a corner and it automatically takes up a quarter.
Yeah, I guess for people more focused on excel dual monitor makes more sense.

excel is faggot and doesn't let you put two windows in separate monitors so not really. it's only really helpful if you do a lot of excel to powerpoint.
also I just tried what you described and nothing happened. pretty sure this "snap" thing your talking about is flame.

I have the dell 38" curved widescreen and a 34" dell curved widescreen mounted above it. I was looking at their 49" curved widescreen but it seems ridiculous. I have a 55" 4k Samsung curved tv and would never use it as a monitor.

I got a 32" curved plus my laptop screen. The idea was that my office could double as a 2nd guest room and then a guest could watch tv on it. Absent this, I would go with 2 smaller monitors.
The snap to split screen isn't that easy if you want to view more than 2 docs at once. Better to do split screen on 2 separate monitors.
You can get better monitors with more overall area for less cost with 2 monitors compared to 1.
I had a heck of a time dealing with the scaling when switching between my home computer and portalling into work. Spent a few hours on the phone with my tech people to get it all to work. This can be an issue with any high-res monitor, but it's worse with 4k.
