New York has a denser concentration of Class A skyscraper office space than any other city. I think there's a good chance that we never see good occupancy rates ever again. This is going to alter the whole character of the city. |

New Jersey and Connecticut now offer tax credits for state taxes paid in NY, but if you work in NY, you are subject to NY taxes. Connecticut only started offering tax credits in 2020, which meant earners owed taxes in both NY and CT. Wealthy people had ways of tying their income to different addresses in each state and avoiding double taxation, but middle class people got fucked. Luckily for them, the NY tax authorities focused most of their attention on high earners.
