1) Israel has a huge brain drain. I know a bunch of ex-Israelis that will confide that Israel is a shitshow and that anyone that can make real money gets out unless they HAVE to be there to make money or is in politics.
2) They have a demographic time bomb where religious Jews and Arabs reproduce far faster than everyone else. Combine with 1 and you have a very bleak future. Taxes are massive, btw. COL is high.
3) No one agrees that "smart Ashkenazis" should be in charge.
4) In fact, Israeli society is highly balkanized. They just had to have 3 elections back to back because they couldn't agree on who should run the country. I bunch of Israelis think the current PM should be in prison.
5) If you're not Jewish you don't want to be there. This contributes to 1. I get that this comports with XO's "but that's what you want with a religious ethnostate" or whatever, but Jews aren't really one ethnicity. They're a loose alliance of religions/ethnicities that don't actually agree on anything. |
