imo you should accept that you believe what you believe and not try to hash out an entire theology around it.
also there’s some guys that were supposedly “in” in theology a couple years ago that you might dig. travis mcmaken and david congdon. both are shitlibs in the xo sense but seem to track your theological interests and positions. (I admit I haven’t read their work just listened to them once and know a little bit about their scene) |

I believe in the “sinless death” and in obedience to the “Father” and that “Jesus is the way the truth and the life” and I have derived great benefit from worshipping Jesus the person (whatever that means), but I don’t find it immediately clear that the efficacy for spiritual renewal through worship of a person in my mind makes that person and his work literally true. The efficacy of the lie is endlessly fascinating, and i think the truths within it are worth unraveling and disentangling from the aspects of it that are a cognitive crutch (even if a necessary crutch). The crutch as crutch, the need for the crutch, is the most revealing part. |

Christ's death was the only necessity in the Christian story because it was the only act God could have done that TRULY convinced us of His becoming human. In many ways, rising from the dead cheated us out of the satisfaction from His death (though that's open for much more scholarly debate).
Moreover, "truth" and "evidence" are 19th and 20th century elements of the scientific method. While the SM boils down probabilities and likelihoods, it does not confer absolute truth-- you are familiar with this from our philosopher. The "lie" you accuse Christianity of is a lie to your own self-consciousness.
What happens to self-consciousness in the master-slave dialectic? Or, rather, in whom does it continue? |

perhaps the 90 iq prole who has practiced the life of faith and talks in that obnoxious simpleton manner about Jesus is closer to the mystery of Christ than was Herr Tillich or any other post- theoreticians? |
