Potential strategic buyers of Twitter

Elliott and silver lake go into overdrive to dump Jack Dorsey, cut costs and eventually sell the business. It’s way too pricey vs free cash flow for a sponsor to LBO, so the buyer would have to be a strategic.
Facebook and google are the most obvious but they would have no chance of antitrust clearance. Am I missing anyone else? Maybe Apple?

Verizon has the cash, but it has a history of stupid acquisitions (e.g. Yahoo), and the company is laser focused on 5G while Verizon media (formerly Oath) is struggling.
Walmart can probably integrate Twitter into its e-commerce platform and make money through ads. A major media player such as Comcast/Warner Media/Sony can use Twitter to allow viewers to watch live content on devices. But I doubt traditional media has the stomach to go through with such an acquisition. |

Date: January 18th, 2021 7:31 PM Author: Dashing clown the entire premise of their investment was that dorsey is a trash ceo that’s too distracted by square and trips to africa to fully monetize the business. dau growth has been fine but their ARPU is trash relative to facebook. this is arguably not a fair argument given how much more facebook spends on r&d plus the nature of twitter vs. facebook but that’s their narrative
elliott under a standstill agreement until next month that prohibits them from nominating more directors or commenting publicly on the business. we’ll see what they really think fairly soon.
i know all this because twitter i’m pitching twitter to a hedge fund for my final round interview later this week |

What's Twitter's next play? They tried live sports streaming with NFL Thursday night, but that ended up being a debacle. |

maybe also doing more with self serve direct response advertising since that should be a key strength for them. twitter really should have made 10x more money than they did in 2020 when it was basically the entire world’s goto news outlet for trump/covid |
