but not sure how it relates to forgiveness for sins. maybe it could be said god would have a newfound pity for mortal humans and so would thereafter offer everlasting life.
another thing i never get is what is everylasting life. it's a one way infinity, but not a backwards or two way infinity. still bounded if you will by your birth? kind of strange and frightening to ponder. |

It differs in that is chooses not to buy into unnecessary supernatural metaphysics of literal guilt transference across time and space, etc. all you need on the cross is a revelation of Gods perfect goodness and you can get everything else you want
And the atonement then isn’t about Gods wrath but man’s wickedness. The father sent the Son to suffer and reveal their infinite forgiveness, and the Son chose to take up the cross. |

If you’re talking about ontologically distinct universe as a result of certain interpretations of QM, that seems rather bogus. If you mean something like an ontologically contiguous universe wherein, due to the nature of infinity, there exist physical/spiritual objects that resemble us but are actually not us, then fine, but that’s not really a “multiverse”
A true multiverse requires something like ontological identity between my existence here and my existence there. That would be impossible unless I am only one face of a unified object that is me across universes. Even still, that is not identity of ontologically distinct me’s, it’s simply a larger me.
For these reasons I believe many words fails as an interesting or plausible understanding of the universe. The metaphysics is self defeating |

or maybe the branches have different rules of physics, who knows how many. something like the number of possible workable string theory solutions. so then you multiply by that number (may be finite).
The QM thing is more dubious to me too but some believe it.
Apart from all that, it could just be that the existence of something implies either "this is it" or "everything possible to conceive in any sense really exists". this would be more like a philosophical multiverse. they would just exist somewhere else--hard to say.
but i don't think the problems with the identity of self matter with any of them. |
