It depends on how you work out. You can avoid those injuries by not being retarded, deadlifting near your max, not stretching/warming up, etc.
Also, resistance training is generally associated with increased longevity.

Idk, I eat pretty badly (random restaurants for lunch and dinner, though I try to get in a salad), pretty inactive, but somehow people who I haven't seen tell me I look like I've been working out. All I did was gain weight though. Guess it's a perk being somewhat of a mesomorph.
Still can randomly walk into a gym and deadlift almost 1.5x my weight and power clean about 155 despite being untrained for a couple years in my late 30s. But yes, need to get back to lifting soon.
I did train like it was a job from 16 to 20, and seems I just maintain a level of readiness and fitness without trying.

15 years out of college and i have classmates who have completely blown up and become fat suburban dads, and i have colleages who look about like they were in college, with a bit less hair.
just like careers, there are big differences that are non-linear. that kid who went Ib --> PE is now a multimilionare, while the generic kids are in 100k middle management.

5+ day water fasting rejuvenates you to an incredible degree. In my experience with it, about the only thing it doesn’t help with is hair loss.

Just do it, no build up needed. First two days are the hard part anyway.
I eat normally after fasting but some people recommend a high fiber vegetable diet for the first day after to ease GI issues from “restarting” the GI tract.
If you do metformin, time it to minimize the amount in your system when you’re exercising, because it blocks some of the benefit. I workout at night, then eat and take 2000mg extended release metformin with dinner. By the time the following day’s workout rolls around, plasma level of it is pretty low.

Bread in Europe is different. Europeans only consume fresh bread, they throw it away much quicker.
American bread is prepared with some sort of preservatives.
Once you start only consuming fresh, higher quality bread you can notice the difference. Think of it like the Japanese with rice.

tbh, it's 95% staying thin and having hair. being actually 'fit' is optional.
if you stay thin, and maintain your hair, you will look recognizably like you did in your 20s, just older.

my point is that being a) thin and b) having hair is 95% of the battle.
Romney probably eats 'sensibly' and walks 20 minutes a day. if that's all you meant by 'fitness,' fine. but if you think he's doing 'elaborate workouts and diets' per OP, that he is into P90X routines, keto, and has washboard abs under his shirt, he doesn't. it's within everyone's power to have Romney's BF% without a massive commitment to 'fitness.' just don't overeat.
takeaway: be relatively thin, have hair. anything beyond this is optional.
