Poast new message in this thread

Brother I don't know whether to laugh or cry reading your poast - yet one more reminder of Chesterton's observation that the modern world is madder than any satires on it.
EDIT: also, LJL, the image of families hugging separated by plastic sheets sounds strikingly similar to the old Puritan custom of married couples in bed being expected to keep bedsheets between their bodies at all times - or else.
Human intimacy, genuine warmth of any kind, the freedom to make choices - all highly frowned upon in totalitarian societies, because there can be no allegiances except to the State itself and its omniscient experts: the human anthill.

This recalls one of the underrated benefits of religion, which reminds us with a still, small voice, an importunate whisper of the heart, that our lives have transcendent value, a precious gift with which we've been entrusted, that goes beyond mere material survival - a material survival which, considered in "scientific" isolation, promotes a comfortably numb feeling of non-feeling as the highest "good."
(It's no coincidence that hyper-efficient numbing agents like cannabis/cannabis products, Xanax, and psychiatric medication in general are heavily promoted as panaceas for all the malaise, the insistent conscience of our proudly and defiantly post-Christian age, prescribed and valorized by our "compassionate" medical "experts" and cultural "role models.")
God is the Artist whose temporary allowance of shadow reveals, as in a great story, the eternal brilliance of His sunlit tapestry: this life a humble prologue, an audition for the real adventure, as C.S. Lewis once said - not a thug, anointed in white lab coats, toying with lab rats and guinea pigs;
He is our loving Father who wants us to enjoy our humble role while nevertheless longing for our true home - nothing like the "non-partisan" thugs in black dresses and impeccably-credentialed petty bureaucrats, drunk with their illusory and transient "authority."

Beat me to it LJL.
For the benefit of the peanut gallery of lurking poasters I would add that - whether our euphorically atheistic friend is conscious of it or not - EVERYONE defers to some authority or another for the vast majority of our worldview...
...and, moreover, every single worldview can be caricatured to sound ridiculous or, alternatively, flattered with sophistry - which means that, as always, marketing slogans (#LoveWins!) are irrelevant, and only by their lasting fruits shall you know them.
Some fruits sound great, or maybe even taste great at first, yet have rotten effects. Others sound strange, or even taste bitter at first, but go on to provide lasting peace. Man is a very strangely-shaped lock, and Christianity is a very strangely-shaped key, Pascal reminds us.

"Even when he’s blatantly wrong or absent and it seems like he’s an idiot or that all of this is just made up bullshit or he just doesn’t give a fuck about us or the planet or anything"
Brother, the first step in my experience (and it seems like the experience of many others, from what I've observed) is to let go of the idea that your life being good or bad is the ultimate standard for whether life itself is good or bad.
(And often what we think is the worst thing to happen to us in the moment, we latter realize was the blessing all along, like a puppy getting a sponge bath, but I digress.)
It's easy to get tunnel vision with our own personal issues and/or observation of others' issues, and miss what's happening right in front of our face: namely, all of the humble candles illuminating the darkness, revealing eternity in the midst of time.
(It happens to the best of us - dark nights of the soul are a rite of passage for men and women far better than you or me.)
Truth hides in plain sight all around us, the hidden face of love; the Artist's fingerprints are everywhere: there are doors in the walls of the world, windows into Heaven, bread crumbs leading us out of the enchanted forest, divine Easter eggs in many inspiring and gently humorous forms, all showing up where we least expect them.
As Dostoevsky once said:
"There was so much of God's glory around me, and I lived in shame: I didn't notice the beauty and the glory of it all."
I sincerely hope this poast helps you, my pumo friend. Maybe it will lie dormant until the right time, and then it will bloom brilliantly like a rose in springtime, and you will remember this poast, transmitted from a humble ant on rachmiel's cyber-antfarm.
Don't let the devil's graffiti on God's tapestry get you down: it's designed to demoralize us, after all. But it's only temporary, thank goodness: all things must pass, as the baby Beatle himself once said.
Heaven and Earth will pass away, but the Truth remains unchanged, beyond the reach of fallen angels and fallen poasters.
We are living in rebel-occupied territory, then, patiently awaiting the return, in irrevocable force, of the one true King.
I have my pet theories about what the Resurrected bodies of various poasters will look like, but that's another story for another sleep-deprived day...

Risk reward unless you are pasty white, risk-reward is in your favor to get more outside sun.
Certain % will get cancer (benign), much lesser % might get melanoma or something that kills you, but statistically the sun keeps much greater percent healthy from a number of different ailments.
