The actor playing Spike fails to capture the character's swagger and slickness, the girl playing Faye Valentine is pudgy and unactractive, and the dude playing Jet is severly overacting. Terrible casting decisions. The only good part so far is theyve kept the awesome jazz music from the anime.
Hopefully it improves. |

The casting is completely off. None of the actors embody the qualities and personalities of the original characters.
The whole point of the show is that they're all really jaded and a little bit sad, and they don't find resolution and it's all fucked. The 3 main actors are horrible. Also, everything else about this sucks, too. |

You're not supposed to have that much sympathy for her, except that she's a person in their little crew with the same problems as everyone else, and her fucked up backstory.
You can't in 2021 depict a character who's basically a hot chick who never grew up and acts like a child specifically because she's a spoiled hottie. That would be way too much for libs.
I actually think the original is about the ills of globalism from the Gen X perspective. It's all about an Earth that was ruined by globohomo and how they can never get it back.
I'm okay with Spike being Asian but he's supposed to be a former Yakuza dude who did bad shit in the past. John Cho makes my skin crawl plus he has egregious gay face and is short. |
