Rate my EPIC Thanksgiving cruise with my family (CSLG)

Date: November 29th, 2022 1:29 AM Author: Light Anal Home Foreskin I did the 180 rich guy dad thing and booked a killer 4 day cruise from LA to Ensenada (Friday to Monday - spent Thursday with a bunch of family for dinner at my MILs). I did this cruise back in February but it was pretty dead and a lot of the stuff on the boat was closed. It was a different kind of nice then because it felt like we owned the place, but it also was low energy and I'm obviously an extrovert so I like it when lots of people are around. So we booked a redo this November. And let me tell you, I felt like a king, brothers.
So I of course splurged and got the upgraded ocean view room. I opted for no balcony because I worry about my kids' safety since they are the most important things in the world to me. Definitely one of the perks of having money. It was basically like staying at a 5 star hotel for 4 days at a fraction of the cost.
The ship had a 180 promenade with a sports bar, cafe, and a ton of other stuff to do. This time the ship was at max capacity of about 3,400 people but it didn't feel overly crowded at all. It was the right amount of people around for good energy, but they were spread out enough to not feel like you were packed into the place.
One of the best things about the cruise was that there was free ice cream at the pool deck (the fat little girl in my photo isn't related to me). I don't know how they make money giving away so much high quality stuff (I must have gotten at least 6 ice creams myself during the trip).
Speaking of food, there was a great buffet that rivaled the best Vegas has to offer. We probably ate there 4 times during the course of the trip. The kids LOVE having pancakes and waffles 3 days in a row for breakfast. They couldn't believe it.
As for entertainment, we say a 180 ice skating show that put Broadway productions to shame. They had an crazy drone light show to music at the beginning. I honestly didn't want it to end.
On top of all that they also had a cupcake making class. My kids thought it was the coolest thing they had ever done. It was probably the best cupcake I ever had in my life, not flame. I feel like Royal Caribbean undercharges for the value they provide on these cruises. It was extra for this activity, but of course, when it comes to my family, price is no consideration. They said my daughters unicorn frog was one of the best cupcakes that was made all cruise.
On our sea day I splurged the $180 for a private cabana. It was a bit cold, so we only spent a couple hours out there. But I did walk down to Johnny Rockets and got us lunch. It was an add on cost but once again, nothing is too good for my family.
We also spent a good amount of time at the arcade. It was like our own private Chuck E Cheese. The kids were obsessed with skee ball and there was a flappy bird arcade for tickets. I am actually 180 at flappy bird and broke the cruise ship record of 103 by getting 150.
As for additional meals, we did the Jamies Italian Restaurant and Chop Steakhouse. Jamies is one of my favorite Italian Restaurants of all time, not flame. I have had dinner there 3 times now on all three cruises and it is better every time. As for as Chop Steakhouse, they had a truffle mushroom soup (off menu) that was on the same level as Guy Savoy's famous truffle soup. It was incredible.
And let's not forget the escape room. We finished with 9 minutes to spare and they told us that it was the ship record for that trip (I have a verified 157 IQ btw - I'll make a separate thread about it this week).
Overall it was an amazing trip. I would recommend it to anyone. In fact, Kenny and Chandler have both done the same cruise in the last 6 weeks (this was Chandler's second time too). It is especially fun if you have children and family to share it with. I know RSF loves more "off the beaten path" trips, but if he has children soon he will be young enough to still enjoy it with them. He should definitely do this one.
