to the Mossad, the margin for error is near zero, if they fail, Israel vanishes into thin air-- let them do the math

Odd case how "Brussels Sprout" always manages to find and bump 0-poast threads by NSAM that fall off the front page. Totally not the same poaster btw. Haha, yeah.

Iran put a bunch of their shit beneath really deep sand, apparently. Do you know what happens when you apply downward force into sand?

I'm not even talking about nukes. Just their regular old ICBMs and shit. Ammo dumps, if you will.

you significantly underestimate Iran's state of the art military arsenal-- their best minds have been educated at MIT and Cambridge-- in other words, they are peers

I really want to know what it looks like when you drop a bunker buster on sand. If it's coming straight down I imagine the column of smoke would be super tall and narrow. I mean the blast radius would barely wider than the missile itself. If it comes it an angle, will anyone even be able to locate the wreckage or will it all be buried in the sand?

based on our bunker buster buster bombs in Iraq-- more smoke than fire

it doesn't bring the enemy to heel

I now think the smoke cloud might be all spread out and not shoot up at all, even if the missile comes straight down at a perfect 90 degree angle. I would have to know more about the bunker buster.

Here's the bottom line: when you pound sand, like literally pound it with your fist, the granules simply arrange themselves into a lattice structure until all that force is used up. So you're not getting any rebound effect when you run, like you would if you were running on any kind of pavement. Every step you take is a net drain of energy that goes straight into the earth and becomes perfectly absorbed, as long as there is enough sand there to keep creating latices until all the force is spent.

Here's another way of thinking about it: sand is just tiny bits of rock that blew off a bigger rock one day. It's the same exact stuff mountains are made of, it's just been ground into little bits, like coffee grounds. In order to punch through sand, you need to pound all those bits of stone together with enough force to turn them into bigger chunks of stone, like how if you tossed some sand into a volcano, it would melt and turn into glass. It's hard to generate that kind of heat through chemical reaction though. Volcanoes have all that friction and compression working in their favor.
