1. Japanese were already a martial culture
2. China was weak as fuck and easily exploited
3. England suddenly got weak as fuck and couldn't project power into Asia
4. France and the Netherlands were also weak. Portugal whatever.
5. USA didn't even want the Philippines anymore and was already trying to get rid of it.
