Is that a big ticket item? What should I expect for a small garage area of like 400 sq ft

Not a marginal thing to consider. Epoxy coatings contain solvents which emit volatile organic compounds during and after application/curing (lierally formaldehyde, benzene) and others. Long term exposure could cause cancer. It's also incredibly difficult to remove (involves chemical strippers/mechanical methods). If your garage is connected to your house that's even more reason to avoid. These coatings off gas and will degrade your indoor air quality forever. Forget it, dude. Go a different route.

Do a concrete stain with a WATER-BASED stain - this can actually give you a similar aesthetic to epoxy coating without such a high concentration of toxins

There are also these natural penetrating sealers amde from plant based oils/waxes which can protect concrete floors without adding a thick coating -t hey basically seep into the concrete to block moisture and reduce staining while maintainig the natural look of concrete

If you're willing to invest a little more in the near term, it's arguably worth it to just do ceramic or porcelain tiles
