OP of the prior thread took the cut and paste and changed the word "designed" to "designated" because he's smart and is promoting "designated" rather than "designed", which is actually cutting edge change of the term of art and is promoted by well educated young engineers for the exact reason i initially articulated.
I intuited that something was up because i have an internet confirmed IQ of 149, and so I commented that the D word in WAD was originally "designed" not "designated" and the reason for that was because of litigation.
Rather than admitting that I made a brilliant hunch and actually nailed his updating to more current usage, which would be a SP plus which he would never voluntarily or intentionally give, as a troll shot he changed his post back to the "designed" of the cut and paste then denied ever making the original interpolation.
You are not highly literate and didnt catch the amusing troll change he performed. So you assume I misread text. You are a failed troll. At least in this instance. HTH. Thats all i will say on the matter. |

if someone is arguing that a product has a design flaw, what does it matter if it's "working as designed" or "working as designated?" in both instances it's saying the product was intentionally constructed to perform in the manner it did.
on top of that, why would they even have to use the same acronym? if companies wanted to eliminate the word "design" the don't have to use the same acronym. they could say "working as expected" or something if they want to evade saying that a product was intentionally built to perform the way it did. a product might be "expected" to degrade and malfunction over time, but it's not "designed" or "designated" to. |
