You have 40 days to weigh in at either 40 pounds more or 40 pounds less than you weigh right now. If you succeed, you get $4M tax free.
Do you go for it? Do you try to lose weight or gain weight? What's your strategy?
No surgeries or supplements designed or marketed to make people gain or lose weight are allowed. Smoking would be OK. Ozempic would not.

it depends on the conditions for the weigh-in prior to trying to gain. 40+lbs from normal unprepped weight would be hellish. however, if you can do a wrestling-style cut and weight-making routine prior to the challenge, it would be a lot more realistic.

No tricks on the front end. They're weighing you right now.
The weigh in 40 days from now you can game by loading up on water and a big meal or dehydrating yourself or whatever.
Are you in?

So, eat 5500 calories a day instead of 2000 ?
Easy. 40 days, 40 bloomin' onions.

you're generally not going to gain 1lb of weight just by eating a theoretical pound of excess calories, though. there are a lot of digestive inefficiencies and adaptations. if you try to overstuff yourself to pack on weight, you might actually do the opposite (at least for periods of time) and start shitting everything out involuntarily.

Nah, tons of obesemos live like this every day for decades. Adding 40 pounds to an otherwise healthy and in shape person wouldn't be so terrible on the organs.
Interesting to note that the American obesity rate hovers around 50% until 75 years old, when it falls off a cliff.

Could I use insulin and/or anabolic steroids (or similar compounds)?
Could I drink unusually large amount of liquids before the weigh ins?
Could I dehydrate before the weigh-in?

No, that's too far into PEDs against the spirit of the Hypo.
You can over hydrate or dehydrate all you want before the final weigh in 40 days from now. The first weigh in would be immediate, so no time to do anything.

Yeah. Losing 40lbs would be "harder" but have a much higher likelihood of success, assuming compliance.
I'd do a 40 day water + electrolyte fast, walk 4-5 hours per day, and the day before the weigh-in dehydrate like an MMA fighter.
Can I also do an ammonia bath and exfoliate off my top dead layers of skin?

Exfoliating dead skin is fine.
40 day water fast would be brutal. And likely unnecessary. You could probably make it doing a few 2 days fasts with 400 calorie days between.
Lots of walking is crazy, but ljl at doing it on day 30 of a strict fast.

I have very little fat to lose, but here's how it would break down:
-10 lbs of intramuscular water + glycogen lost the first week as I get into solid ketosis.
-13 lbs of muscle lost. I lift everyday and I'm lean, so when I stop lifting regularly muscle drops off fast.
-11 lbs fat loss
-6 lbs lost in final few days through dehydration.

i wouldn't do it. I'm not fat enough to shed a cool 40 lbs no problem and id rather look good at the beach than be fat as fuck wifh some extra cash
cutting 40 lbs is probably pretty easy if you're fat. Take tons of ozempic, drink water (so you don't retain it), eat no salt and exercise. You dump tons of water and fat
