Murdoch bitched out both times…
Yes, Ted Turner did challenge Rupert Murdoch to a fight—twice.
The first incident occurred in 1983 after a Murdoch-sponsored yacht collided with Turner’s boat during the Sydney-to-Hobart race, causing it to sink. At the post-race dinner, Turner, reportedly under the influence, verbally attacked Murdoch and challenged him to a televised fistfight in Las Vegas.
The second challenge came in 1997 amid escalating tensions over Fox News’s competition with CNN. Turner publicly proposed a boxing match, stating, “Boxers are getting older and older. What’s wrong with a 58-year-old fighting a 66-year-old?” He added that Murdoch could wear headgear if he wished.
