Alaska Airlines, Horizon Air grounds fleet nationwide after major IT disruption hits operations
Alaska Airlines temporarily grounded all of its mainline and Horizon Air flights Sunday night following a system-wide IT outage, the airline said in a statement.
The disruption began around 8 p.m. Pacific Time, prompting the airline to request a temporary ground stop for both carriers while teams worked to restore systems.
“We apologize to our guests for this inconvenience,” the airline said. “There will be residual impacts to our operation throughout the evening.”
The Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) status page earlier showed that all destinations served by Alaska Airlines were affected by the ground stop, though no reason was initially provided.
Horizon Airlines was added about an hour later.
Passengers planning to travel Sunday night were advised to check the status of their flights before heading to the airport.
Neither the airline nor the FAA provided an estimated time for operations to resume.
