Having a family with an aging wife and several small children definitely comes with its moments of suck, but you’re building something for the future. Kids need a home base, and traveling all the time kind of sucks. Even RSF who can travel wherever he wants generally settled down in one of NYC, Paris, or St-Tropez. The reason is that traveling all the time is boring. Traveling with kids is a special pain in the ass. Also, being a part time travelmo will disconnect you from people and strain your relationships because most people choose to settle down and have families. Yes, your 75 year old dad trying to use chopsticks at his 45 year old son’s wedding reception may be a little humiliating, but not as humiliating as his other son who just amounted to a travelshrew part time unemployed loser with no future.
