Interstellar was a 180 movie in retrospect and something I'll show my kids

Can't be terrible. It was pretty good, you just have bad taste.

my taste is not popular culture's, sure
the movie was still shit. ultra blaring nolan-esque booming "music" drowning out language, overlong and poorly paced (half of film spent on stupid dustbowl earth), shitty color scheme, bad cast (anne hathaway & the redhead are always annoying), cloying and simping message
i don't like any nolan films
with that said, i really did like lynda obst's earlier film contact, also starring mcconaughey and with similar themes

I have watched both films, and I like them about the same.
I did hate the forced romance between the main characters in Contact. They met and were in bed the very same night, with zero chemistry. It was refreshing to have no romance or bed scenes in Interstellar.
The Interstellar score is top-notch, IMO. Contact's score? I can't even remember if it had one.
Btw, who's “the redhead”? Do you mean McConaughey? Because he’s also in Contact, and that's one of the points you had against Interstellar. (NVM, you mean Chastain? She was ok).

**spoiler alert**
It is also based on hard science and was made with the guidance of Nobel Prize–winning physicist Kip Thorne.
Maybe that stuff will happen in 100-200 years.(ChatGPT claims it's more around ~7000 years but agrees he could be mistaken, like usual.)
Would you want to travel to a black hole and come back your same age but 60-80 years later (Earth years) being effectively ~50 years younger than your kids?
