Why are Dems trying to blame global/national trends for loss rather than Kamala?

the Dem train went off the tracks with Obama. he was a once in a century level opportunity. so even though he was a junior senator who had accomplished nothing in his professional life they went with him. at that point the DNC began to peremptorily select candidates rather than trust the voting process. Hillary, Biden, and Harris were all the result of that process. |

Kamala wasn't a superstar candidate but she wasn't terrible. Basically a "replacement-level" candidate, no worse than Biden or Kerry or Romney really. Better than McCain and Dole.
I think Trump would have still beaten any of the other Dem contenders (Shapiro, Newsom, Biden, whoever), so I don't think it was a terrible error running Kamala.
2008 Obama was a superstar candidate so, yeah, Trump probably wouldn't have beaten 2008 Obama.
Trends like inflation, the economy, mood about whether things are improving or not, etc are always the most important. |
