Hypo: $10M if you do heroin 40 of the next 100 days. Accept?

You must do at least as much as the average US intravenous heroin user does on a given day of use for your day to count toward the 40. If the H you do on a given day has less than that (it's not really H or the dose is too small), that day doesn't count. You'll know the next day if the previous day counted.
If you do it 40 of the next 100 days, you get $10M tax free. Accept? |

2. humans build tolerance to opioids very rapidly. it's discussed heavily in the opiate manufacturer litigation. you can develop a tolerance for something IV quickly. IV injection is obviously not necessarily lethal to first time users but it's risky.
3. just lazy. this all contemplates a natural addictive tendencies and no desire to get off heroin. addiciton is much more complicated than just the chemical withdrawal. that sucks with opiates but the worst physical symptoms are gone in a few days. if a person is otherwise happy and not prone to substance abuse and looking forward to the windfall, it's a profoundly autistic notion of opioid abuse to assume they'll turn into 80 lbs. strung out junkies burning money for their next fix after a few months of sustained use. you clearly don't have much sense of fortitude.

Get a tolerance for the amount in 10 days, then take it once every 2-3 days. 100-10 = 90. Have to get to 40. 90/2= 45. So 5 of those days I'll do it once every 3. the rest would be every 2. |

My first thought is to just inject it in my little toe or something where almost none of it will get into bloodstream. Combine that with someone standing next to me with Narcan in case I get unlucky, and it's an easy $10M
For the sake of not fighting the hypo, I will assume that I have a licensed phlebotomist who will inject me in a vein every time. Even then, honestly, I would probably do it if Narcan is allowed. Two months should be plenty of time to build up my tolerance to the point where I can inject as much as an average IV drug user injects. (And that number is actually pretty low, because the hardcore addicts are a minority of users. Many people use only small amounts each day and live more or less normally.) If I ever get it wrong, someone is standing by to Narcan me. Once I have hit the 40 day mark, I check into detox and get a prescription for buprenorphine. I might need to take it for the rest of my life to stay sober, but I'm willing to live with that for $10 million. |
