I don't think the current conflict is helping, obviously, but I don't see much choice. And I think Israel is really shooting themselves in the foot in the West Bank. Netanyahu needs to go, and if the sim writers have any commitment to reality, he will be gone within a few months. Hopefully the next government will be able to undo some of the damage he's done.

Re defense contractors, I think it's a huge problem in the US, and I'm open to the possibility that it's a driver a violence in Israel, but I am inclined to assume Israel is different. Most of their weapons are not from Israel so the influence pipeline would operate totally differently. And they're a much more cohesive society than the US and everyone's kids are in the army, so it's less likely that people manipulate public opinion on war simply to profit.
