This poll said that most of Eisenkot's supporters would be ok with him cutting a deal with the Arabs to get Bibi out. Probably won't happen, but it's not as unthinkable as I thought.
tl;dr in all of this is that eisenkot blew his wad and is totally done here.
he promised to be the anti bibi and presented himself as a figure that the jews of the country and the world could rally around. in the end, his own party got 6 seats less than likud. and his anti-bibi bloc got 4-5 seats less than the bibi bloc. in the end, the election numbers are pretty much the same as last time. the numbers just dont give him the street cred to command that the country rally around him.
"i'll get the country to rally around me with the help of the arabs" just comes off as pathetic and desperate, and nobody is going to buy it.
Yeah, they did it on 2022 but now they would need the hardcore Arabs too and of course a minority government is going to collapse fast anyway.
Some twitter SORKIN types seem to think UTJ could defect but their whole issue is not serving in the military which is why the TMF party broke with Likud years ago.
Anyway it seems like either a new election or people burning a tremendous amount of political capital to kick Bibi out for a maybe a year.
And of course twitter libs still seem to think the “opposition” gives a fuck about Gaza lol
Ra’am party leader Mansour Abbas believes the establishment of a minority government led by Yashar party chair Gadi Eisenkot, with the outside support of Arab parties, is weak or impossible, Channel 12 news reports.
Abbas reportedly expressed the feeling in a meeting with party members.
It comes after the Jewish-led bloc against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu failed to win a majority in its own right in the election.
Only The Democrats have expressed openness to including Arab-majority parties.
