Date: August 9th, 2025 12:34 PM Author: Unholy Startling Depressive Started a phytoremediation biz, I get grants to clean up superfund/brown fields etc by planting a ton of native trees from the Salicaceae family (poplar, cottonwood, aspen etc.) and irrigate them with the polluted groundwater.
The trees take up the chemicals (largely PCPs from creosote) and then microbes and fungi break them down in the rhizosphere removing them from the water table. We are getting 20 year funding on each project, I hire native americans to do the labor and the tribes are "stakeholders" so everything gets rubber stamped. I dont know anything about science and chatgpt writes all the grant paperwork for me. Water should be over 90% free of pollutants by end of funding. |

Also you can oxidize the polluted water with potassium permanganate or hydrogen peroxide etc to make the chemicals more bioavailable for fungi & microbes
Many of these sites are also under consent decrees with corporate owners paying millions in mitigation costs which the EPA was happy to continue taking while doing nothing about the problem for decades |
